Privacy
Road to 800 collects as little as it can. This is all of it.
When you use the site
- There are no ads or cookies, and nothing follows you from site to site. Signing in is optional.
- Your progress and settings (your answers, the sets you have done, your flashcards, and the switch below if you use it) are saved in your own browser, in its local storage. Unless you sign in, they are never sent to us. Clearing this site’s data in your browser deletes them.
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and to block attacks, and it shows us only overall numbers, such as how many visits the site had. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- To count visits, each page tells the site that it was opened: the page’s address and, if you came from another site, that site’s name. The site keeps only totals: how many times each page was opened, how many visitors came each day, and from which countries and sites. To tell one day’s visitors apart without cookies, it scrambles your IP address and browser name together with a random code and keeps only the scrambled result, which cannot be turned back into your IP address. The code and the scrambled results are deleted the next day, so your visits cannot be linked from one day to the next. Nothing is stored in your browser for this, and no other company receives it.
- Links to desmos.com take you to Desmos, which has its own privacy policy.
When you sign in
- Signing in is optional, and for people aged 13 and over. You sign in on Google’s own page; we never see your Google password.
- From Google we keep your name, your email address and Google’s number for your account. We keep your progress: your answers, whether each was right on the first try, how many tries it took, when you answered, and where you stopped in each chapter; and when you last used the site. Your flashcards stay in your browser.
- Your browser keeps a random sign-in code in its local storage (not a cookie); we keep only a scrambled copy of it. Signing out ends it and takes your progress off that browser.
- Who sees it: you, and your teacher at Road to 800, who sees each signed-in student’s progress in order to help. We never sell it or share it with anyone for their own use. It is stored in a database at Cloudflare.
- To delete your account and everything kept with it, use “Delete my account” on the Progress page, or email hello@roadto800.com.
- Signing in with Google is also covered by Google’s privacy policy.
When you sign up for updates
- We keep your email address, the date and time you signed up, and which page you signed up on. Nothing else. It is stored in a database at Cloudflare.
- We use it only to email you about Road to 800: new chapters, practice sets and videos. We never sell it or share it with anyone for their own use. If we use an email service to send the updates, it handles your address only to deliver them.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link. Or email hello@roadto800.com and we will delete your address.
- Signing up is for people aged 13 and over.
